GED and/or Adult Education student
shall be defined as a person currently enrolled in a GED program or Adult Education program through North Metro Technical College.
Borrowing Policy:
GED and/or Adult Education student may borrow materials from the North Metro Technical College Library.
• Any GED and/or Adult Education student who wishes to borrow materials from the college library must first complete the ‘Request for Library Account for GED Student’ form. There are no exceptions to this rule.
o The form must be filled out completely.
o The GED/Adult Education student filling out the form must produce a Georgia issued photo identification, ex. A valid driver’s license.
o The form must be signed by a current GED/Adult Education instructor and returned to the library.
o The GED/Adult Education student’s information will then be entered into the library’s circulation system and the patron will then be able to check out 2 library materials.
Computer Usage:
GED and/or Adult Education students are encouraged to use the computer lab/resources in the adult literacy offices located in the 400 building.
GED and/or Adult Education students may use the library’s computers. Library staff must log GED and/or adult education students on to the library’s computers. GED and/or Adult Education students must abide by any and all Technical College System of Georgia and North Metro Technical College computer usage guidelines.
Computer usage for GED and/or Adult Education students is limited to 30 minutes per visit. During times of slow computer usage, computer time may be extended per the discretion of library staff.
Library Access:
GED and/or Adult Education students have access to library materials within the library. GED and/or Adult Education students may receive the current Galileo password.
While in the library, GED and/or Adult Education students must abide by any and all student behavioral policies and guidelines established by North Metro Technical College and the Technical College System of Georgia. GED and/or Adult Education students must not disrupt library operations or disturb other library patrons. GED and/or Adult Education students will be notified verbally by a member of library staff when inappropriate behavior is demonstrated. Upon the second incident of misconduct within the library, the GED and/or Adult Education student may be asked to leave. Should a GED and/or Adult Education fail to leave the library when requested, the patron may be asked to leave by campus security. Such incidences of misbehavior within the library will be documented by library staff. Repeated incidents of misbehavior within the library may see the patron’s library privileges revoked, the decision of which shall be made by the administration of North Metro Technical College.
Child Policy:
As per guidelines established by North Metro Technical College, Children are not allowed on campus due to liability issues. Persons under the age of 18 who are enrolled in the GED/Adult Education program shall be considered GED and/or Adult Education patrons.
