If water is found to be leaking in any way from any source such as a broken pipe, roof, window, rest room, water fountain:

• Turn off the source of the water if possible. However, Maintenance (ext 4018 or 404-382-9804) advises that only Maintenance (ext 4018 or 404-382-9804) Personnel shut off utilities (i.e., water, electrical, gas).

• From 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, call Maintenance (ext 4018 or 404-382-9804) in order for them to shut off the main valves.

• After 5:00 pm, call NMTC Security (cell phone 770-529-2311)

• DO NOT stand in pooling water.

• Unplug any electrical equipment in the area unless you must stand in water to unplug it.

• If water is leaking from the ceiling, cover the area with plastic sheeting

• If there is water on the floor, remove books from lower shelves to locations away the water. Use book trucks to transport books.

• Books and materials should be moved ONLY to prevent further damage. Otherwise, DO NOT open or disturb wet books and materials.

• If damage to the library, to the collection, or to equipment has occurred, initiate the "Disaster Response Phone Tree."
