DISASTER TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Disaster Team Co-coordinator:

 

• Responds to scene of emergency on call from NMTC Security (cell phone 770-529-2311) or from supervisor on duty at Circ desk.

 

• Acts as liaison between senior management, emergency personnel, press, salvage co-coordinator

 

• Assesses scale of damage to collection.

 

• Decides, in consultation with salvage co-coordinator, on resources, personnel, supplies, that will be necessary.

 

• Coordinates rotation of personnel during salvage/recovery process, provides for team relief and refreshments as necessary.

 

• Compiles an after action report on incident.

 

• Oversees yearly evaluation of emergency readiness, potential hazards, and updating of manual.

 

• Plans periodic staff training on emergency response and disaster prevention.

 

 

Salvage Co-coordinator:

 

• Responds to scene of emergency as directed by Disaster Team Coordinator.

 

• Oversees stabilization of environment to ensure that no further damage occurs.

 

• Assists Disaster Team Coordinator in determining and procuring resources and assistance that will be needed in salvage/recovery operations.

 

• Initiates appropriate salvage procedures.

 

• Supervises salvage/recovery team(s).

 

• Oversees yearly evaluation and updating of emergency supplies, storage of supplies, and of emergency supplier contact list.

 

• Plans and conducts periodic training of Disaster Control Team members in salvage and recovery procedures.

 

Disaster Control Team Member:

 

• Responds to scene of emergency as directed by Salvage Co-coordinator.

 

• Provides manpower in salvage and recovery process.

 

• Participates in periodic training of staff in emergency readiness and disaster prevention.

 

• Attends training in salvage and recovery procedures.

 

Photographer:

 

• Photographs the extent of damage to the building, the furniture, and the collections as part of the initial disaster assessment.

 

• Provides a photographic record of the recovery, salvage, rehabilitation and restoration processes, with attention to recording unsalvageable materials.

 

• Tracks the dates and times of the photographs or film for the reports.

 

• May use the digital camera
